Eclectic Solar Hatha Yoga
The beginning/intermediate Hatha class on Monday evenings is an eclectic collection of Traditional Solar Hatha Yoga, and other styles gathered from a hatha yoga teaching practice of more than 40 years.
This gentle yoga Sunday afternoon class is designed for people whose muscles & ligaments need some focused attention. Both mental & physical flexibility will be developed in a warm & compassionate setting. All levels of physical fitness are welcome, whether you are an athlete who has neglected stretching or have a body that is getting older & needs a little TLC!
Yogic Study and Meditation
Study and Meditation class meets upstairs on Thursday at 7:15 p.m. Enter through the middle front door (6004 Pershing Ave.)
Traditional Hatha Yoga
The beginning/intermediate Wednesday evening class is a traditional Hatha Yoga approach with an emphasis on slowly assuming and then holding a posture while breathing deeply in stillness.
Gentle Fitness Hatha Yoga
Julie’s early Wednesday morning yoga class is a beginning Hatha yoga class. Most classes include some Pilates, along with restorative poses and a brief meditation. She uses humor and acceptance coupled with gentle expectations in working with varying ages and ability levels. Julie emphasizes personal strengths to guide students toward stillness, awareness and finding the strength within.
Prenatal Hatha Yoga
The Prenatal Hatha Yoga class is arranged on an individual basis. Please contact Karen at 314.822.9108 to register and schedule a class time.
Yin-focused Hatha Yoga and Informal Meditation
In her Saturday morning class, Mimi teaches a gentle Hatha Yoga class with a focus on Yin Yoga. The poses are held for longer periods of time (3-5 minutes), and connective tissues – joint ligaments and tendons – relax and stretch. This slower pace of Yin complements the more active yoga practices taught at the Solar studio. An informal meditation practice immediately follows this class for those who wish to participate.
Iyengar Hatha Yoga and Spanish Language Iyengar Hatha Yoga
Iyengar strongly influences Monica’s teaching style during her Sunday morning and Friday afternoon intermediate classes. The Sunday class is taught in English and the Friday class is taught in Spanish. She focuses on breathing while holding asanas, and emphasizes toning and building strength in the muscles of the torso.
